Les limbes, récit d’une confusion - Limbo, a tale of confusion
The territory of limbo is an uncertain space, a borderland. Neither hell nor paradise, this transitional realm is a gentle anesthesia, a state of confused waiting where reality appears dull. Neither terrible nor sublime, this marginal space is one in which it is easy to lose oneself. Unclassifiable and indeterminate, this landscape of confusion stretches endlessly.
Lost within her own personal limbo, the artist sought to translate this condition onto photosensitive paper through a compulsive and repetitive process of printing, as if attempting to emerge from her own confusion and find a path forward.
The artist invites us to expand this concept and imagine what limbo might look like within our own lives, and what it feels like to navigate such a geography. To explore this space is to enter into the temporality of confusion: to believe oneself to inhabit a familiar reality while being deprived of any possibility of ultimate fulfillment.
Through familiar, repetitive, and almost obsessive motifs, the artist invites us to question our own reality and to ask whether we too inhabit this state of uncertainty—lost within our own limbo. What anchors allow us to trust our perceptions and our reality? How can we be certain that we are not adrift within a shifting space? And if we are, what might be found within the confusion of the limbo that shapes our lives?
Ultimately, this work offers more uncertainties than answers.
